An island in the Finnish archipelago, reserved entirely for you and up to fourteen guests. Six houses among old pines, a private chef, your own host, and the sea on every side.
Nature is our hostThe island is not the backdrop. It is the host.
Warm rock, still water, long dinners outdoors.
Amber birches, a clear cold sea, storms watched by the fire.
Candlelight, stars and sauna. The longest nights of the year, and nowhere you have to be.
The light returns, and so do the birds. The first days of June bring the white nights.

Every island has a story. Ours is part of a thousand-year one.
Amalia has stayed in its natural state. Before the houses you stay in, no one had ever lived here, and the island next to ours is still empty. You are among the first to wake up in this landscape.
More than half of the island remains unbuilt, and so do the islands around it. No neighbours in sight; now and then a boat passes, far out on the water.

Nature is our hostEverything precious does not need to be changed.

Old pines, juniper and granite shape the island, and the houses follow them. They were placed around the ancient pines, never through them. The island's biodiversity is protected, and every decision is made so that it will still be well generations from now.
In spring and autumn, the archipelago lies beneath one of the great migration routes of northern Europe, and the sky fills with birds.
Sustainability here is not a label. More than half of the island is left as nature made it, and every decision is made to keep it that way.
Your host tells these stories when the moment is right, and never as a lecture. Every story is true, and legends are told as legends.
When the ice sheet retreated at the end of the last Ice Age, the land beneath it began to rise, and it is rising still: here, around four to five millimetres every year. New skerries emerge from the sea and islands slowly grow into one another.
Eight hundred years ago the water in a nearby church strait stood three to four metres higher than today, wide enough for large ships. The granite of Amalia itself rose from the sea only in the last few thousand years.
The Viking route to Novgorod, Constantinople and Baghdad ran through these islands. A strait close to Amalia was an important harbour and trading place from at least the 900s, and an old Danish document describes a sailing route from Denmark through the archipelago to Tallinn.
It is the only reliably identified Viking-age trading place in Finland. Excavations in the 1990s found bronze, glass, beads, amber and silver coins cut into pieces for trade.
In 1997, a 24-kilogram fragment of a runestone was found on the shore of a nearby island. It bears an animal figure and a man's name, Torfast. It is the only fragment of a runestone in Finland generally accepted as genuine. How it came to lie at the mouth of the strait is a mystery that may never be solved.
In October 1771, the Dutch merchant ship Vrouw Maria sank in an autumn storm in the outer archipelago. Among her cargo were paintings bought in Amsterdam for Catherine the Great.
The wreck was found in 1999 at a depth of around 41 metres, almost intact, the lower masts still standing, because the Baltic has no shipworm to eat the wood. What remains in the hold is still partly a mystery.
An old pilot village in the outer archipelago was once one of the largest pilot stations in Finland. Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna visited it fourteen times over nine summers from 1885. An inscription in the rock still marks their visits.
Local tradition says the emperor befriended a fisherwoman named Serafina, who became known as Kejsar-Fina, the Emperor's Fina.
Outings by your own boat or car with a private guide. Many places follow the season, so your host confirms each one before it is promised.
Six houses, a sauna by the sea, and room for three generations.
Pavilions of black timber, pale oak and glass, shaped to the rock. Sliding doors turn shared spaces into private rooms at night, so everyone can be together by day and sleep apart. The team lives in its own quarters, so every house stays yours.

One table for fourteen, and a cinema screen that descends from the ceiling.

A fire of its own, a quiet study, and the sea beyond the bed.

The pool, just outside the door.

At the water’s edge, with a kitchen and a morning of its own.

One generous room by day, two private ones by night.

A terrace that wraps all the way around, and the sea on every side.

Warmed only with wood from the island itself.
These islands are still rising from the sea, a few millimetres every year. We added as little as possible.
We give it back.
Every experience is built on the island, the season and local people. The finest day may be the one where nothing happens at all, and nothing is promised that nature cannot guarantee.

A private chef and kitchen assistant prepare every meal. Before you arrive, the chef learns your wishes, diets, allergies, religious food customs and what the children love, so that the first meal is already right.
Menus are planned around your wishes and what the season offers. Meals are served when and where you wish. You do not need to decide anything, unless you want to.
Season first. The archipelago’s growing season is short, so the menu follows what is genuinely available at the time of your stay.
Local where possible. Whenever their produce is available, we buy from archipelago fishermen, farms and small producers, and gladly tell you where it comes from. Beyond the season, we choose the best ingredients we can find.
Simple and careful. Good ingredients, little handling, and cooking done with care.
Little waste. We plan and cook so that as little as possible goes to waste.
The sea at its warmest and long evenings for the outer islands.
Clear cold water, amber light, storms watched by the fire.
Silence as the rarest luxury.
The light returns, and the archipelago wakes.
The long Nordic night, and nowhere you have to be.
About six hours of daylight in December. A week of sleep, candlelight, the fire and the evening sauna, with a plunge into the cold sea beneath the stars.
Snow in the north. Silence by the sea.
A few nights in Lapland among snow and huskies, then the archipelago for silence and rest. All of Finland in one journey.
Think, decide and recover, in one week.
For a leadership team, board or family office: focused mornings with a facilitator, afternoons outdoors, evenings at one table. In complete confidence.
A selection of the island. Seasonal photography is added through the year.
